2022 Kickstarter Needs Your Help

We are down to the final day of our 2022 Kickstarter. There are still plenty of great rewards to grab. For example, the Snap Judgment Workshop, fun Alien mystery boxes, swag packs, signed art prints, and tuckerizations.

We're about $2500 away from funding all six planned issues of Apex Magazine in 2022. Check out the rewards and add-ons for all the cool stuff available.

We could use your help as we've yet to hit 60% of the support we received in 2021. :-)

Indigenous Futurists Special Issue

Last year you funded two bonus special issues. The first of these arrive in October. Guest editor Allison Mills has submitted her original fiction TOC. You can find the TOC and the full announcement here.

International Futurists Special Issue

The second bonus issue is our upcoming International Futurists. This one arrives in December and is guest-edited by Francesco Verso. You can find Francesco's full list of contributors and our announcement here.

And Another Thank You

Once more, thank you for your support of Apex Magazine. 2021 has been a great year for us in terms of fiction and accomplishments. The last 18 months have been a challenge for everyone. We hope that having Apex Magazine to read has been a welcome distraction.

Stay safe. Stay healthy. Keep reading.

Fulfillment Update
over 3 years ago – Wed, Mar 24, 2021 at 06:27:58 PM

Happy Hump Day! Here's where we stand on fulfillment. There's a lot of info to share, so bear with me!

Physical Rewards

It's taken a bit longer than expected to fulfill the physical rewards. Blame Covid-19. In the past, I've had an Apex minion help pack and label everything. That wasn't possible this time, so it was all left to one clumsy, slow packager (me).

In any case, all the physical rewards have been mailed (except for the alien art). You should have received your swag packs and books, else they are en route. Domestic US backers, if you haven't received anything in the next seven days, please DM me. International shipping can take a few weeks.

Apex Alien Head Art

Justin Stewart has the list of backers for this reward and is working on the art. They should go out in the next few weeks.

Subscriptions

In the end, I decided it would make more sense to move all our subscribers into our online subscription management system. If you've received user ID and order notices from Apex-Magazine.com, this is the reason. You will not be automatically billed when the subscription expires as we do not have your payment data, though you will receive email notification with an option to renew when the time comes.

If you are not able to access your subscription via My Account on Apex-Magazine.com, please DM and we'll figure out why.

Issues 121, 122, and Milestone Rewards

Every backer who picked the 121 and/or 122 rewards should have received a download link through a DM via Kickstarter.

Milestone rewards are available to subscribers via My Account. Non-subscribers were sent a download link through a DM via Kickstarter.

Editor Critiques

Lesley and I will be reaching out starting later this week to the 15 backers who picked up critiques. You'll be hearing from us soon! Our red pens are ready!

Bonus Issues #1 and #2

Work is chugging along on these. The Indigenous Fantasists issue is scheduled to release in October and the International Fantasists will release in December.

Subscriptions Fuel the Engine

As we're wrapping up fulfillment, I want to once again thank you for your support. The relaunch has been well-received. We've been able to publish some incredible work from the likes of Fargo Tbakhi, Alix E. Harrow, Sheree Renée Thomas, Sam J. Miller, and many more. Being able to publish the magazine is a joy that we're fortunate enough to share with genre readers and fans!

Although we love Kickstarter and the opportunities it provides to creators, the Apex team hopes to have the magazine self-sustain itself—as it did prior to our hiatus (so we know it can be accomplished). Kickstarters are an incredible amount of work, and we'd rather be producing Apex Magazine than coming to you with an annual crowdfunding campaign.

If you're not already a subscriber, there are three easy ways to help us reach our self-sustaining goal.

Here's to wishing you health and happiness!

Cheers!
